The last thing falls into place and my heart beats a little faster

Dear Last Minute Packers,

Yesterday I called my dad while he was packing for our trip and he described this experience perfectly: When your heart is beating just fast enough with excitement that you begin to feel a little anxious. Is that excitement or am I way over my head? George has been very patient with me the last week as I awaken before 5 am just to toss and turn in the bed making sure that it truly is excitement.
I confess that I am not a last minute packer -- I have all that time at 5 am to just sit and stew about exactly what would be best. "I should take a reference book about Traditional Asian Medicine. I will be in school, and I have two bookshelves full of TAM books (but most of them the size of dictionaries, incredibly specific, and travel poorly)."
Luckily something clicked, and so I let out a yip (it would have been a yell but it was early) and a quiet "Thank you Frank" and ran to the book shelf for Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine Revised Edition Paradigm Publications. A paperback that has English, Chinese characters, and pinyin with tones, points, herbs, formulas, theory, etc. It will not fit in my pocket (unlike the Lucky Dog that I never trusted in details and sold) but it is no heavier then a good novel. Although I have not opened this book since my first trimester of school, in last half hour of hanging out I can tell that we are going to be good friends.

There is nothing like traveling with a good friend,
E

First thing in the morning is the best time for good ideas.

I hope you arrive(d) safely, and your jet lag subsides, and your first-thing-in-the-mornings happen at appropriate times.

Have a great trip, Elaine! I'm so glad you found the perfect book to bring. It sounds better than "Let's Go" or Rick Steves or a Michelin Guide. At least for your purposes.
