Yesterday was a 3

That is the way the Chicago horoscopes start out: With a 1 being very challenging and a 10 being very easy. Although Dad and I are having a good time and we are lucky to even go on this trip and a million other things that make it so this post might not be what I send to my pen pal in Baghdad, but everybody has a more challenging day every once in a while. Yesterday was a good challenge for us (and we might have even felt a little homesick at least for a system that we knew). I will sum up in pluses and minuses.

- Awoke full of anxiety (used ear shen men and spleen ear points)
- My face is starting to break out in acne from sneaky citrus in all food
- Dad lost his prescription polarized sunglasses in a mini bus
- I do not know where the hotel is so we go too far and have to take a taxi back
- Wasps start to come out vent in new hotel bathroom
- Have to talk to management for a long time about "bees"
- Miss the last bus down to the beach
- Have to argue with woman at water taxi booking station to prevent her from riping us off (twice)
- Get lost and hot on Railay Beach
- Get stung by jelly fish in areola
- Woke up this morning with my left outer calf covered in mosquito bites

+ Able to order mild food
+ Met likable Swedish girl
+ Found laundry mat and lovely travel agent
+ Booked excellent tour for Bor Thor
+ Dad bought ray bands
+ Slept deeply

Do not worry, as today was much better and we only had one incident where Dad lost his new ray bands below the restaurant (it is on a dock in a river) and so he has to go in to save them, avoiding poisonous snakes but getting cut by oysters.

Looking forward to Bangkok tomorrow.

Always True,
Elaine

PS Will add picture of Dad in Raybands soon.

Traveling so far from home can be rough. I hope tomorrow rates higher!

Ah, Elaine...even when you list more bad than good you manage to be practical, funny, adventurous and to make me long for an overseas trip.
While the scratching, itching and/or stinging are not something I'm jealous of, the combination of wasps, snakes, bees, mosquitoes, jelly fish and dangerous oysters makes me wonder if you aren't living your own great adventure novel.
And it's warm there too, right? Ahh...a warm adventure novel...

I agree with Anna's comment. I was just thinking that your writing is incredible and so like a modern novel that you enjoy reading so much. I feel like I'm reading an Elaine novel at times. Thank you.
